I always look forward to June every year. That’s when I contact Captain Myron Gilbert
(M&M Charters-517-592-3376). Myron has donated a walleye fishing trip for physically
challenged youngsters for over the past 10 years, and has been donating to our chapter
for over 20 years. He truly enjoys helping these youngsters get into the outdoors.
This years youngsters were Daniel Bosch age 15 from Plainwell, Michigan, Daniel was
born with MPSI Hurler Syndrome, Carter Starr age 16 from Dryden, Michigan who has
Cerebral Palsy. Tyler Wirth age 14 from Midland, Michigan who has Cancer of the spine
and brain.
Mother nature did not cooperate well this year as we had to move the scheduled day
to an alternate day, due to high winds and rain. Unfortunately Carter Starr could not make
it on that day, but Tyler and Daniel made it with their parents. The weather was perfect
and a limit of walleyes was taken in about 4 hours. Myron filets the fish and puts them on
ice and hands them to the families. Some of the best eating, and already for the frying pan.
It is truly an honor for me to be able to take these youngsters out fishing with Myron
so they may have some happy dreams.
Thank you to all the our members for making this possible by attending our annual Fundraiser
so we have the monies to do great things.
